"एक युग का अंत"... इसी शीर्षक से Microsoft ने अपने वेब ब्राउज़र में Flash का इस्तेमाल बंद करने की जानकारी दी थी.
Chrome के 76 और उससे बाद के सभी वर्शन, Microsoft Edge, और FireFox 69 में डिफ़ॉल्ट रूप से Flash का इस्तेमाल बंद कर दिया गया है.
जल्द ही, हम 'Google सर्च' में भी Flash के ज़रिए इंडेक्स करने की सुविधा बंद कर देंगे.
Flash ने ऐनिमेशन, मीडिया, और उसके काम करने के तरीके से उबाऊ वेब को बिल्कुल बदल दिया. यह अपने समय की सबसे ज़्यादा इस्तेमाल होने वाली टेक्नोलॉजी थी. इसी ने वेब पर कई लोगों को कॉन्टेंट क्रिएटर्स के तौर पर आगे बढ़ने की प्रेरणा दी. इसका इस्तेमाल हर जगह किया गया. Flash कॉन्टेंट चलाने वाले Flash के रनटाइम को 2013 की दूसरी छमाही में ही 50 करोड़ बार इंस्टॉल किया गया था.
मुझे अब भी याद है, मेरा बेटा तब तक एक के बाद एक Flash गेम खेला रहता था, जब तक मेरी पत्नी उसे डांट कर गेम बंद न कराए. बेटा, अब सोने का समय हो गया है. अब Flash के सोने की बारी है.
Google Search में इस साल के आखिर तक Flash का इस्तेमाल बंद हो जाएगा. साथ ही, जिन वेब पेजों पर Flash कॉन्टेंट मौजूद है Google Search उन वेब पेजों के Flash कॉन्टेंट को अनदेखा करेगा. इसके अलावा, Google Search अब स्टैंडअलोन SWF फ़ाइलों को इंडेक्स नहीं करेगा. इस बदलाव से, ज़्यादातर उपयोगकर्ताओं और वेबसाइटों पर कोई असर नहीं पड़ेगा.
Flash ने वेब को एक नया आयाम दिया. हालांकि, अब HTML5 जैसे वेब स्टैंडर्ड मौजूद हैं जो Flash की लेगसी को आगे बढ़ाएंगे.
