Gmail tarafından kullanılan şema yapılarından bazıları,
schema.org standart sözlüğünden farklıdır. Google, diğer e-posta hizmetlerinin ve e-posta istemcilerinin de bu şemalardan tam olarak yararlanabilmesi için e-postayla ilgili şemalarını standartlaştırmak üzere schema.org topluluğuyla birlikte çalışmıştır.
Ayrıca schema.org'daki diğer birçok iyileştirmeyle de derinlemesine entegre edilmiştir.
Google, schema.org'da kabul edilen şemaları destekleme özelliğini güncellemeye devam etmektedir. Bu işlem tamamlandığında Google, bu şemaları kullanan tüm geliştiriciler ve kullanıcıları için gerekli geçişi mümkün olduğunca sorunsuz bir şekilde yapmaya çalışacaktır.
