התווים התקינים מוגבלים לתווי ASCII בלבד. האפשרות היחידה להשתמש בהימלטות מ-URL היא כדי לייצג רווחים בין מילים. המערכת מתעלמת מרווחים לבנים בתחילת הטקסט או בסופו.
