כלל לעריכת אירוע מגדיר תנאים שיפעילו יצירה של אירוע חדש לגמרי, על סמך קריטריונים תואמים של אירוע מקור. אפשר להגדיר מוטציות נוספות של הפרמטרים מאירוע המקור.
בניגוד לכללי יצירת אירועים, כללי עריכת אירועים חלים לפי הסדר המוגדר.
אי אפשר להשתמש בכללים לעריכת אירועים כדי לשנות אירוע שנוצר בכלל של יצירת אירוע.
פלט בלבד. הסדר שבו הכלל יעובד. המערכת תעבד כללים עם ערך הזמנה נמוך מהערך הזה לפני הכלל. כללים עם ערך הזמנה גבוה יותר יעובדו אחרי הכלל הזה. כללים חדשים לעריכת אירועים יקבלו ערך הזמנה בסוף ההזמנה.
