Essentials, Pro, and Enterprise categories

To help you find the best fit based on the type of customization you need for your implementation, Google Maps Platform divides its pay-as-you-go SKUs into three categories — Essentials, Pro, and Enterprise. Each category is designed to cater to different business needs and usage patterns, and includes free1 billable events2 for each individual Core Service SKU you use each month. You can mix and match SKUs across Essentials, Pro, and Enterprise to fit your implementation.

Essentials

10,000 free calls / mo per SKU1

Integrate the essentials of Google Maps into your applications. Ready-to-integrate APIs and SDKs help you get started with essential capabilities for key use cases and quickly scale, backed by our global infrastructure.

1 Free usage refers to monthly billable events available at no cost for each individual SKU (100,000 free requests per month for Map Tiles API Essentials SKUs; higher free usage caps apply to accounts eligible for India pricing).

2 For details on what constitutes billable events for a SKU (such as requests, map loads, or other triggers), see Usage details.

For more information, see Pricing categories.

Pay-as-you-go

Google Maps Platform uses a pay-as-you-go pricing model, which means that each Google Maps Core Service price is determined on a cost per billable event for each service you use. Google aggregates use for all projects linked to your billing account for the applicable month.

Pricing is associated with SKUs. A stock keeping unit (SKU) is a distinct item from Google Maps Platform associated with a product, and a product can have more than one SKU associated with it. Each SKU has an associated price, listed as a cost per 1000 billable events, known as cost per mille or CPM. For details on prices and SKUs, see the following:

For more information, see Pay-as-you-go.

Subscriptions

Subscription plans offer a flexible alternative to the standard pay-as-you-go model. With a predictable, fixed monthly price, subscription plans provide additional control over your costs. For details on pay-as-you-go, see the core pricing list.

With a subscription plan, you pay a fixed monthly fee for a set number of calls to Google Maps Platform services, depending on your selected plan. Any usage of Google Maps Platform services that are not explicitly part of your chosen subscription plan is billed separately at standard pay-as-you-go prices.

Google offers three subscription plans, each with a single usage limit for all included APIs and SKUs:

1 Usage of any no-cost SKU (such as Maps SDK and Embed) does not count toward your plan's monthly usage limit.

Note: The Essentials SKUs for Places API (Legacy), Directions API (Legacy), and Distance Matrix API (Legacy) are included in the Essentials and Pro subscription plans, and their Pro SKUs are included in the Pro subscription plan. We recommend migrating to the newer versions of these services, which offer enhanced features and improved quality.

Excluded SKUs: Unlimited no-cost SKUs (Autocomplete Session Usage, Places API Place Details Essentials (IDs Only), Places API Text Search Essentials (IDs Only), and Static Street View Metadata), Roads - Speed Limits, and Enterprise SKUs are not part of the 20 Essentials or 36 Pro subscription plan SKUs and are billed under standard pay-as-you-go rules.

Calls beyond these limits are subject to additional charges. Use the Maps Subscription Management page to monitor your current API call consumption against the limit of your subscription plan.

For more information, see Subscriptions.

Free usage caps and volume discounts

Google Maps Platform offers two kinds of price discounts:

  • Free usage caps. To help you identify, evaluate, and test our service, each SKU provides free billable events every month, the quantity of which depends on the price category the SKU belongs to. This free usage resets on the first day of each month, at midnight Pacific US time.
  • Volume discounts. All Google Maps Platform Core Services SKUs have usage-based volume discounts scaling to millions. These discounts happen automatically and require no special action on your part. As you expand your usage, you are automatically billed for usage that falls into each price tier.

For specific details and examples, see the global price list and the India price list.

Public programs

Additional Google Maps Platform credits are available through Google public programs for nonprofit, startup, crisis response, news media, and academic organizations. For details and to learn how to apply, see Public programs.

India currency and price eligibility

If your account has billing and a large majority of usage in India, you may be eligible for India pricing, which is billed using the pay-as-you-go model at prices specific to India. Accounts eligible for India pricing cannot enroll in subscription plans.

For more information, see Price details (India).
