Badges are non-monetary digital awards that recognize developer achievements, incentivize users, and track the completion of specific tasks.
You can earn badges in a variety of ways including creating an account, completing a learning activity such as a codelab or quiz, or participating in Google Developer communities or events.
You can display your earned badges on your Developer Profile, and share them on social media if your profile is public.
Earn badges
The following are examples of how you can earn a badge:
Completing learning content
Badges are used to recognize and reward users for passing a quiz or completing a codelab or learning pathway such as Adding Google Maps to a Flutter app or Build a Basic Layout on Android.
Completing a meaningful action or milestone
Badges can hallmark developer actions such as creating a Developer Profile or completing ten Codelabs.
Participating in an event
Badges can be used to recognize attendance or a notable contribution at a Google sponsored event such as attending Google I/O 2022 or speaking at a student developer conference.
Recognizing membership
Badges can celebrate becoming a member of a community program such as Women Techmakers or becoming a Dev Library Contributor.
Display badges
Your earned badges are displayed under All badges on your Developer Profile.
You can manage your badges by clicking the three-dot menu at the top right corner of any badge and selecting one of the following:
Add to favorites
You can select up to five of your favorite badges to get highlighted at the top of your profile.
Hide badge
Hidden badges are not displayed on your profile.
Delete badge
The badge is removed from your profile.
Share badges
You can share your earned badges on social media if you have a public profile.
To share a badge, do the following:
Open your Developer Profile.
Click the badge you want to share.
The badge opens in a modal dialog.
In the bottom right corner of the badge, click the icon of the social media platform where you want to share your badge.
The selected social media platform opens in a new window.
