Şemayı doğrulamak için xmllint kullanımıyla ilgili söz dizimi aşağıdaki gibidir:

xmllint --schema schema_location file_to_validate

Aşağıdaki örnek, mypriceupdates.xml dosyasını Transaction mesajı şemasıyla doğrular:
