Tentang Vidio
Vidio adalah salah satu layanan media over-the-top (OTT)
terbesar di Indonesia yang didirikan pada tahun 2014, yang merupakan bagian dari konglomerat media Elang Mahkota Teknologi (Emtek). Vidio
memiliki lebih dari 1 juta video dalam katalog mereka, dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan dan menawarkan lebih banyak konten dalam
berbagai genre untuk pengguna di Indonesia.
Menerapkan data terstruktur VideoObject
Di pasar yang mengutamakan bahasa lokal (Bahasa Indonesia), Vidio bertujuan untuk menyediakan konten
lokal di katalognya dan membuatnya dapat ditemukan di Google Penelusuran bagi pengguna di Indonesia. Untuk
mencapai tujuan tersebut, Vidio menerapkan markup VideoObject
ke katalog yang sudah ada tanpa harus mengubah jenis file video (format M3U8, mengikuti protokol HLS),
karena mereka sudah menggunakan jenis file video yang didukung.
Namun, M3U8 dapat menjadi tantangan untuk di-crawl dan diurai dengan benar oleh Googlebot karena cara kerja format
file ini. Format file ini bentuknya berupa peta yang merujuk bagian-bagian yang membentuk objek video secara keseluruhan.
Artinya, untuk memutar video secara lengkap, klien harus menyatukan kembali bagian-bagian tersebut. Salah satu
tantangannya adalah jika ada salah satu file yang dirujuk oleh file M3U8 tetapi tidak dapat diakses oleh Googlebot,
sehingga pengambilan byte video gagal seluruhnya. Untuk menghindari masalah pengambilan, Vidio menerapkan URL stabil
untuk setiap file video dan memastikan Googlebot dapat mengaksesnya.
Memvalidasi bahwa markup telah berhasil diterapkan menggunakan Alat Inspeksi URL
bagian Peningkatan kualitas video
Hasil
Setahun setelah menerapkan markup VideoObject, Vidio mengalami peningkatan tayangan dan klik
di halaman videonya. Meskipun jumlah video yang dipublikasikan Vidio dari Kuartal 1 2022 hingga Kuartal 1 2023 meningkat sekitar 30%,
penambahan markup VideoObject ini membuat videonya memenuhi syarat untuk ditampilkan di berbagai
tempat di Google. Hal ini juga menghasilkan peningkatan tayangan video kurang lebih 3 kali lipat dan hampir 2 kali klik video
di Google Penelusuran. Vidio juga menggunakan laporan pengindeksan video
dan laporan performa Search Console, yang
membantunya mengidentifikasi dan memperbaiki masalah di seluruh platform.

To\nachieve its objective, Vidio implemented [`VideoObject` markup](/search/docs/appearance/structured-data/video)\nto their existing catalog without having to change their video file type (M3U8 format, following [HLS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_Live_Streaming) protocol),\nas they were already using a [supported video file type](/search/docs/appearance/video#supported-video-files).\n\n\nHowever, M3U8 can be challenging for Googlebot to properly crawl and parse due to the way the file\nformat works. The file format is a map that references the parts that make up the whole video object, which\nmeans in order to play the full video, the client has to stitch the parts back together. One of the\nchallenges is that Googlebot could run into an inaccessible file referenced by the M3U8 file,\ncausing the entire video byte-fetch to fail.
