To access your settings, click the **Settings**\nicon (the gear in the upper right-hand corner) and then select **Settings**.\n\nThe **Settings** screen is divided into two categories, **General** settings and\n**Notifications** settings.\n\nGeneral settings\n----------------\n\nGeneral settings contains configuration options for the appearance and behavior\nof Google Issue Tracker, including homepage preferences, date and time\nformatting, and keyboard settings.\n\n### Preferred homepage\n\nYou can [choose a homepage](../guides/set-a-homepage), which is the page that is displayed by default\nwhen you open Issue Tracker. The default homepage is a list of issues that are\nboth open and assigned to you. As an alternative, you can set your homepage to\nany [hotlist](../concepts/hotlists), [saved search](../concepts/saved-searches)\nor [bookmark group](../concepts/bookmark-groups) that you can access.\n\nYou cannot directly set a homepage to the **Starred by me** , **CC'd to me** ,\n**Reported by me** , or **To be verified** links in the left-hand navigation.\nHowever, you can indirectly set one of these views as your homepage. To do so,\nclick the link on the left-hand navigation and [create a saved search](../guides/work-with-saved-search) from\nthe search results page. You can then set the saved search as your homepage.\n\n### Date/time formatting settings\n\nYou can also [set how dates and times are displayed in Issue Tracker](../guides/set-date-time-formatting). These\nformatting preferences are applied to the display of timestamps in the\n**Created** and **Last modified** fields, as well as in custom fields that store\ndate and time data.\n\n#### Date formats\n\nIssue Tracker supports the following date formats:\n\n- Dec 31, 2015\n- Thu Dec 31, 2015\n- 2015-12-31\n- 12/31/2015\n- 31-12-2015\n- 31.12.2015\n\n#### Time formats\n\nIssue Tracker supports the following time formats:\n\n- 01:00PM\n- 1:00PM\n- 13:00\n- 13:00:01\n\n#### Time zone\n\nIssue Tracker supports the following time zones:\n\n- Local time\n- UTC\n- America/Los_Angeles\n\n| Hover over a timestamp to display the time in time zones that you have not set as the default.\n\n### Keyboard settings\n\nThe keyboard settings enable or disable Issue Tracker's keyboard shortcuts.\nKeyboard shortcuts are also referred to as \"hotkeys\".\n\nBy default, hotkeys are enabled. To disable Issue Tracker keyboard shortcuts,\ntoggle the **Enable all hotkeys** option.\n\nFor a list of all keyboard shortcuts, press `?`.\n\n### Display settings\n\nThe display settings control how comments are displayed in Issue Tracker. There\nare two options:\n\n- Force comments to display as plain text\n- Force comments to display with code font\n\nBy default, these options are disabled. To enable one of the options, toggle it\nin the display settings.\n\nNotifications settings\n----------------------\n\nIssue Tracker can send email\n[notifications](../guides/set-notification-preferences) when issues are created\nor updated to inform you of the change. These notifications depend on your role\non the issue and the notification level you have chosen.\n\nIf you have more than one role and the roles have different notification levels,\nIssue Tracker sends an email when the highest level is matched. For example, you\ncan choose to receive emails when all issues that you have starred have changed\nbut choose to receive only minimal emails where you are in the **Verifier**\nfield of an issue. If a change is made to an issue you have starred and you are\nalso the verifier, you receive all email notifications for the issue.\n\n### Notification roles\n\nIssue Tracker has the following notification roles:\n\n| Role | Description |\n|------------------|-----------------------------------------------------------|\n| **Assignee** | Your username is in the *Assignee* field of an issue |\n| **Reporter** | Your username is in the *Reporter* field of an issue |\n| **Verifier** | Your username is in the *Verifier* field of an issue |\n| **Collaborator** | Your username is in the *Collaborators* field of an issue |\n| **CC'd** | Your username is in the *CC* field of an issue |\n| **Starred** | You have starred the issue |\n\n### Notification levels\n\nYou will always be notified when you are added or removed from an issue. For\nnotifications about other changes, Issue Tracker has the following notification\nlevels:\n\n| Level | Description |\n|-------------------|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|\n| **All Updates** | You receive email for closing, major, and minor edits |\n| **Major Updates** | You receive email for closing and major edits only |\n| **Closure Only** | You receive email for closing edits only |\n| **Minimal** | You receive email if an issue is marked as fixed and you are the verifier |\n\nFor information on what types of edits fall into the major and minor categories,\nsee [Issues](/issue-tracker/concepts/issues#edits).\n\n### Notifications for your own edits\n\nBy default, Issue Tracker doesn't send notifications for your edits unless you\nare also in a group that is in the **CC** list for the issue. You can change\nthis default and receive email for your edits by toggling the **Exclude edits\nmade by you** option.\n\n### Group member notifications\n\nYou can add groups like Google groups or email lists to an issue's **CC** field.\nMembers of the group receive email notifications if:\n\n- Their CC [notification settings](../guides/set-notification-preferences) are configured to allow notifications\n- The user's subscription settings for the group are to set to **Each email**\n\n### Per-issue notification preferences\n\nYou can change your level of notifications on a particular issue by using the\nsubscription menu on the issue details page.\n\nSelecting a notification level in this menu overrides any\n[role-based notification setting](#notification-roles) for the issue. This\nallows finer control over the amount of notifications you receive on a\nparticular issue.\n\nThe notification preference selected in this menu is unaffected by any change to\nyour role(s) on the issue. You can revert back to your role-based notifications\nat any time by selecting the **Default** option at the top of the menu.\n\nThis menu provides a **None** option that mutes notifications for the issue.\nSelecting this prevents you from receiving *any* email notifications for the\nissue."]]
