Things to note for the Reseller API's management of a Google Workspace subscription:

  • Active Google Vault or Google Drive subscriptions must be cancelled before the associated Google Workspace subscription is suspended.
  • If transferring a customer's Google Workspace subscription and an associated Google Vault or Google Drive subscription, use the batch operation. If you transfer each subscription one at a time, the transfer results in an error.

Upgrades & downgrades

  • You can downgrade a subscription using the subscriptions.insert method with the skuId that you want to downgrade to. It isn't possible to downgrade ANNUAL_MONTHLY_PAY and ANNUAL_YEARLY_PAY subscriptions during term, and it can't be done by using renewal settings: the downgrade must be done manually on or after renewal time. We recommend that you switch to FLEXIBLE by using the subscriptions.changeRenewalSettings method, then perform an adjustment after the renewal event.   • You can't combine transfer and SKU switch operations. For example, if you have a potential customer who is using Google-Apps-For-Business and wants to buy Google-Apps-Unlimited from you, you must transfer the customer first with the existing Google-Apps-For-Business SKU and then switch the SKU to Google-Apps-Unlimited.

  • Upgrades/downgrades start a new subscription and terminate the previous one. For annual plans, a new commitment starts when you make the call to the subscriptions.insert method.

Archived User

Archived User enables administrators to manage former employees and their data. To archive or unarchive multiple users using the Admin SDK APIs, use the Users.update method to set the archived boolean field to true or false for each user as appropriate. Things to note for the management of Archived User subscriptions:

  • These SKUs have to be purchased in addition to corresponding Google Workspace subscription.
  • For example, you should buy "Google Workspace Enterprise Plus – Archived User" licenses for a customer with a Google Workspace Enterprise Plus subscription.

Postini SKU

  • Google-Apps-For-Postini SKU might coexist with a customer's Google Workspace SKU—even with the same reseller. However, Postini SKUs can't be purchased, they're created when an existing Postini account is migrated.
  • When you are transferring a customer whose subscriptions include the Google-Apps-For-Postini SKU, then you must include this subscription.

G Suite Lite SKU

  • Google-Apps-Lite SKU can only be created by resellers when working in conjunction with a Google sales representative. Contact your partner manager for more information.
  • When you are transferring a customer whose subscriptions include the Google-Apps-Lite SKU, then you must include this subscription.

Google Workspace Frontline

  • This SKU has specific sales criteria associated with it. Please discuss with your Account Manager before selling this SKU.

Things to note for the Reseller API's management of a Google Drive subscription:

  • This product subscription is for all of the Google-Drive-storage product's SKUs. You are charged only for the assigned SKUs.
  • Active Google Drive subscriptions must be cancelled before the Google Workspace subscription is suspended.

Google Vault

Google Vault is a service for Google Workspace that lets you retain, archive, search, and export your organization's email for your eDiscovery and compliance needs. It's available as an add-on for G Suite Basic, and is included with G Suite Business and Google Workspace Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus subscriptions. Things to note for the Reseller API's management of a Google Vault subscription:

  • Google Vault is available if you, as a reseller, have accepted the amendment to the Terms of Service in your Partner Sales Console.
  • This subscription is only available as a monthly post-pay FLEXIBLE or 30-day free TRIAL plan. The customer must first have an active G Suite Basic subscription. For more information, see the administrator help center..
    • You can only add Google Vault to an ACTIVE status G Suite Basic subscription. Customers must therefore accept Google Workspace terms of services before adding Google Vault.
    • You can only add Google Vault to a customer with a verified domain.
  • A user is allowed one Google Vault 30-day free trial. This is separate from a Google-Apps-For-Business 30-day free trial except in the case of a new Google Vault subscription created during a Google Workspace 30-day free trial plan:
    • If the G Suite Basic subscription is in a 30-day free trial plan when a Google Vault subscription is created for a user, the Google Vault subscription is in a 30-day free trial plan as well.
    • If the G Suite Basic subscription is in a FLEXIBLE plan, a Google Vault subscription, previously not in a 30-day free trial, can be in a flexible or 30-day free trial plan.
  • Active Google Vault subscriptions must be cancelled before the G Suite Basic subscription can be suspended.
  • If transferring a customer's G Suite Basic subscription and an associated Google Vault subscription, use the batch operation. If you transfer each subscription one at a time, the transfer results in an error.
  • The Google-Vault-Former-Employee SKU is for Postini customers to manage former employee data. A user assigned this license can't have any other license assignments. This SKU can't be purchased, it's only created when an existing Postini customer is migrated.
  • The Google-Vault-Former-Employee SKU must be included when transferring customers that have Postini subscriptions between resellers or changing between direct and resold accounts. This SKU doesn't allow plan changes.

Chrome Enterprise

Chrome Enterprise enables administrators to remotely manage their fleet of devices from the cloud. Admins have access to over 200 policies enabling a range of controls covering everything from user and device policies to Chrome App and security features.

Things to note for the Reseller API's management of a Chrome Enterprise subscription:

  • You must apply through Partner Advantage to sell this SKU.
  • Chrome Enterprise doesn't require the user to have an existing Google Workspace subscription.
  • This subscription is only compatible with payment plans: ANNUAL_MONTHLY_PAY, or 60-day free TRIAL.
  • Customers aren't able to use Chrome Enterprise until their domain is verified.

Cloud Identity Free Edition

Cloud Identity Free Edition enables administrators to manage their end users without requiring a Google Workspace license. Admins can create users and groups, access audit logs, set up authentication policies such as 2SV (2-Step Verification), and configure SSO (Single Sign-On). Cloud Identity Free Edition also enables basic mobile device management capabilities (enroll devices, set a lock screen, remote wipe).

Things to note for the management of Cloud Identity Free Edition subscriptions:

  • Licenses of this SKU don't show for an individual user. This is a site-wide SKU which is applied at the customer level. For more information, see how licensing works in Cloud Identity Free Edition.
  • This SKU doesn't require the customer to have an existing Google Workspace subscription.
  • This subscription is only compatible with the FREE payment plan and caps maximumNumberOfSeats at 50.
