אפשר גם ליצור תוכנית בהתאמה אישית, שנקראת מחבר, כדי ליצור אינדקס לנתונים שמאוחסנים במאגר של צד שלישי. המחבר יכול להיות תוכנית נפרדת, סקריפט שפועל בתהליך משלו או תוסף למאגר.
יש שני סוגים של מחברים: מחברי תוכן ומחברי זהויות. מחברי התוכן משמשים לסריקה של מאגר ולהוספת הנתונים לאינדקס, כדי שמערכת Google Cloud Search תוכל לחפש את הנתונים האלה בצורה יעילה.
מחברי הזהויות משמשים למיפוי הזהויות והרשימות של הקבוצות בארגון לחשבונות ולקבוצות ב-Google שבהם נעשה שימוש בחיפוש Google Cloud. המיפויים האלה מאפשרים להגדיר רשימות ACL והצעות לשיפור איכות החיפוש במהלך ההוספה לאינדקס.
