Voice-based messaging allows drivers to keep their eyes on the road while communicating. Android Auto’s messaging app template uses a single navigation model across all messaging apps. Apps using this template receive and respond to text-based messages only, transforming text such as SMS and email into audio.
Interaction model
Incoming messages animate downwards from the top of the screen. Drivers can respond to them immediately or access them later, when done driving. Saved messages are available in the Notification Center or on the phone
Users can play and reply to a message using a single flow.
Voice replying to a message
This dialogue illustrates the voice commands and sequence used to reply to a text message. To be recognized by Android Auto, commands must be used in one of the patterned sequences
