A new issue only appears in a hotlist if you\nor another user explicitly adds it and it remains in the hotlist regardless of\nany changes that are made to it. Hotlists allow you to track a set of issues\nrelated to a common goal, such as a product launch or particular feature. For\nother ways to collect issues into groups, see [Grouped Issues](/issue-tracker/concepts/grouped-issues).\n\nAfter you [create a hotlist](../guides/work-with-hotlist#create) or [add a hotlist](../guides/work-with-hotlist#find), the hotlist appears in\nthe [left-hand navigation](/issue-tracker/concepts/left-nav-pane). Generally, the hotlist appears in the\n**Hotlists** section, but if it is also part of a [bookmark group](/issue-tracker/concepts/bookmark-groups) that you\ncreated or subscribe to, the hotlist appears under that bookmark group in the\n**Bookmark Groups** section instead.\n\nHotlists are uniquely identified by an ID number, not their name. As a result,\ndifferent hotlists can have the same name and may be difficult to differentiate.\nYou should choose a unique name when creating a hotlist.\n\nIssues in a hotlist\n-------------------\n\nWhen users access the list of issues in a hotlist, the initial view of the list\nis based on issue sorting specified by a user with **Admin** permissions as\ndescribed in [Organize Search Results](../guides/organize-search-results). When a hotlist is sorted by\n*position* , issues can also be dragged and dropped in a customized order. This\nallows the **Admin** user to present hotlist results to other users as they deem\nappropriate.\n\nUnlike [saved searches](/issue-tracker/concepts/saved-searches), the issues within a hotlist only change when a user\nexplicitly [adds or removes issues](../guides/work-with-hotlist#add-issue) from the hotlist. Users with **View and\nAppend** or **Admin** [permission](/issue-tracker/concepts/access-control#hotlists) for a specific hotlist can add and remove\nissues from it.\n\nYou can add an issue to multiple hotlists. Hotlists appear in blue boxes next to\nthe issue's title on the issue's page. If **Show Hotlists** is toggled **On**\nfor the **Title** column of a [search results page](/issue-tracker/concepts/search-results), hotlists similarly\nappear in the search results as blue boxes. If you have **View and Append** or\n**Admin** permission for a hotlist, you can remove an issue from the hotlist by\nclicking the **X** associated with the blue box.\n\nIDs and naming\n--------------\n\nSaved searches, hotlists and bookmark groups are uniquely identified by ID\nnumbers. You can find ID numbers by clicking the pencil or clipboard icon on the\ndetails page next to the resource name. As an alternative, if a resource is in\nthe left-hand navigation, you can access its ID number by selecting **Settings**\nor **Info** in its drop-down menu.\n\nNames for saved searches, hotlists and bookmark groups don't need to be unique.\nFor example, two different users can\n[create a bookmark group](../guides/work-with-bookmark-group#create) named \"My\nBookmark Group.\" One of these bookmark groups may have the ID number 63690 while\nthe other has an ID number of 82451. If the same user creates or subscribes to\nresources with the same name, each resource appears in the left-hand navigation\nand it may be difficult to distinguish one from another. For this reason, you\nshould make names as unique as possible and avoid using generic names.\n\nManage hotlists page\n--------------------\n\nIssue Tracker offers a hotlist summary page for hotlists that you created,\nstarred, or are indirectly subscribed to through a bookmark group. The summary\npage can be accessed by clicking the settings icon in the top bar and selecting\n**Manage hotlists**.\n\nThe hotlist summary page lists the name, description, owner and ID number for\neach applicable hotlist. Clicking on an entry takes you to an administrative\npage for the hotlist, with **Basic Information** and **Access Control** tabs. If\nyou have **Admin** permission for the hotlist, you can directly edit the fields\nin these tabs.\n\nHotlist picker\n--------------\n\nThe hotlist picker lets you toggle the hotlists that an issue is listed in. It\nis available in the **App Bar** of the issue details page, or as a button in a\n[bulk edit](../guides/edit-issue-bulk).\n\nThe number in parentheses indicates how many hotlists this issue is listed in.\nSuch hotlists have a checked box when you click the hotlist picker. Other\nhotlists may also appear with their boxes unchecked. You can add or remove the\nassociation between an issue and hotlist by clicking on the name of the relevant\nhotlist. You can make several changes at once by checking and clearing the\nrelevant boxes. The changes only take effect if you then click the **Add** ,\n**Remove** , or **Save** button that appears at the bottom of the hotlist picker.\n\nYou can create a new hotlist or filter your existing hotlist by typing keywords\ninto the **Type to filter hotlists from your sidebar** text field at the top of\nthe hotlist picker. The search matches hotlists with the keywords in their\ntitle, but not their description. You create a new hotlist with the keywords you\nenter into the search bar by clicking **Create new** below the search field. You\ncan only create a hotlist in the hotlist picker if your keywords don't exactly\nmatch a result from the search. When you create a hotlist in the hotlist picker,\nthe associated issue is automatically added to the hotlist.\n\nIn bulk edits, you can add or remove multiple issues from hotlists at the same\ntime.\n\nThe hotlist picker in bulk edit behaves similarly to the picker that appears on\nan individual issue page, with the following differences:\n\n- Changes are saved by clicking the **Apply** button at the bottom of the hotlist picker.\n- When multiple issues are selected, no number appears in parentheses in the hotlist picker.\n- When some, but not all, selected issues are found in the same hotlist, the hotlist has a dash in its associated box, instead of a checkmark.\n- Clicking a dashed box changes it to a checked box.\n\n### Available hotlists\n\nIndividual issue details pages display hotlists in the hotlist picker that you\nare subscribed to. This includes hotlists that you created or starred, as well\nas hotlists found in bookmark groups that you have starred. In bulk edits, the\nhotlists displayed in the hotlist picker include the previously mentioned\nhotlists, as well as any hotlists associated with issues listed in the displayed\nsearch results.\n\nArchived hotlists\n-----------------\n\nOnly users with **Admin** permission for a hotlist can [archive](../guides/work-with-hotlist#remove) it. When\narchived, a hotlist no longer appears in the left-hand navigation of users who\nstarred it or had it in a bookmark group. An archived hotlist does not appear in\na [hotlist search](../guides/work-with-hotlist#find), but can be found in the **Archived** section of the\nleft-hand navigation of the hotlist admins. When you go to the list of issues\nfor an archived hotlist, the text **(archived)** appears in red next to the\nhotlist title.\n\nHotlists and bookmark group hovercards\n--------------------------------------\n\nA hotlist or bookmark group hovercard contains the name, ID, owner and\ndescription for the hotlist or bookmark group. For example:\n\nHotlist and bookmark group hovercards appear when you hover over the following:\n\n- Name of the hotlist or bookmark group when performing a search for a [hotlist](../guides/work-with-hotlist#find) or [bookmark group](../guides/work-with-bookmark-group#find).\n- Blue hotlist box found next to the issue title on an issue page.\n- Blue hotlist box found next to the issue title on a search results page if the **Title** column has **Show Hotlists** toggled to **On**.\n- The name of a hotlist that appears in the **Selected Items** or **Add By\n Query** fields of a [*Bookmark Group* settings page](../concepts/bookmark-groups)."]]
