Campus ID Overview

Users can add their Campus ID card to their Android-powered phone to securely access campus resources like residence halls and classrooms. They can also use their Campus ID with Google Wallet to pay for things on campus such as dining, laundry, vending, books, and more.

Campus IDs are supported by participating colleges and universities in the US and Canada through the following providers:

These providers integrate with Google to provision and manage Campus ID cards in the Google Wallet. If you're a developer at a university and would like to learn more, check with your provider on their ability to add Campus ID cards to Google Wallet.

Student support

For a student to use Campus ID with Google Wallet, they need the following:

  • The latest version of their provider's app from Google Play
  • A phone that runs Android Lollipop (5.0) or higher, with NFC turned on
  • The latest version of the Google Wallet app (recommended)
  • NFC-enabled readers capable of receiving a student account credential from Google Wallet through the provider's supported protocol

For more information on how to support a user, see the support article Use your campus ID with Google Wallet.

The branding guide contains information on Save to Google Wallet button guidelines, Campus ID asset requirements, and a field mapping template.

Card provisioning and user experience

The university app (or provider app) links the student account to a Google Account through the Save to Google Wallet flow. For details on the steps of this integration, see Provision a new card.
