Before you start, review the following prerequisites:
- Your terminals or card readers need to support Europay Mastercard Visa (EMV) credit and debit payments. L1 and L2 EMVco certification is required. For more information about EMV certification, see Product approval processes.
- You can use private label cards (PLCs). PLCs don’t require L1 and L2 certification. For more information about the use of PLCs, see EMV and PLC cards.
- Users must have a mobile device with Android v4.4 or higher that supports near field communications (NFC) and host card emulation (HCE).
- Users must have the Google Pay app and a bank-issued card added to their Google account.
