Who should use this guide
This guide is for customers with a previous license, for either Google Maps APIs for Work or Google Maps API for Business.
This guide is not for customers with the Google Maps Platform Premium Plan license, which became available in January 2016, or customers who are renewing their license. If you have the Premium Plan, see the Premium Plan guide.
How to check your license type
To determine whether you have the Google Maps Platform Premium Plan or a previous Google Maps APIs for Work or Maps for Business license, check any of the following:
- Usage Reports in the Support Portal: Log in to the
Google Cloud Support Portal and
click Maps: Usage Report in the navigation bar on the left. If you
have the Premium Plan, your ID appears the following
format at the top of the report:
gme-[companyname] & proj-123456789012 ([type])
If your ID is in a different format, you have a previous license.
- Order form or Welcome letter: If the SKUs on your order confirmation or the Welcome letter you received via email start with MA4W-, you have the Premium Plan. If the SKUs start with GGB-, or GM-, or GPB-, you have a previous license.
- Google Maps Platform contract: If your contract has an addendum titled “Google Maps Platform Premium Plan,” you have the Premium Plan license. If you don't have that addendum, you have a previous license.
How to use this guide
For customers with a previous Google Maps APIs for Work or Maps API for Business license, the information in this guide supersedes or supplements the information in the main developer documentation. If you have previous license, make sure you refer to this section first for information about:

- Purchase Agreement: Describes your rights and obligations as a Google Maps APIs for Work customer. See the document for your region:
- Acceptable Use Policy: Defines use cases which are acceptable under your License Agreement.
- Service Level Agreement: Describes expected uptime for the services and your entitlement to credit in the event of service downtime.
- Technical Solutions and Services Guidelines: Describe the support offering for your product.
- List of Included APIs: Describes which of the Google Maps Platform are included in Google Maps APIs for Work and details the deprecation schedule.
Transitioning to the Premium Plan
Note: The Google Maps Platform Premium Plan is no longer available for sign up or new customers.
If you have a previous Google Maps APIs for Work or Maps for Business license, you can transition to the Premium Plan when your current license is up for renewal. Mid-term transitions are not available at this time. When it's time for you to renew, contact your Google sales representative or Google Maps Partner for details on the Premium Plan and to receive a price quote based on your application’s usage.
