Google Maps Platform has launched a collection of agent skills, now publicly available on GitHub or directly with npx skills add googlemaps/agent-skills, designed to instantly upgrade AI coding assistants like Replit, Lovable, and Claude Code with authoritative, fresh, and compliant Google Maps Platform knowledge. These skills, engineered directly from canonical knowledge, bridge the gap between static documentation and live AI prompts, providing a scalable, compliant supply chain for developers building on the Maps Platform.

Search for destinations is now GA within the Geocoding API. This update provides a comprehensive "destination bundle" of rich, structured, and consistent hyperlocal data. You can now access granular details including specific building entrances, sub-destinations (such as units within a complex), building outlines, navigation points, and nearby landmarks. These enhancements are designed to eliminate the friction of the last-mile journey, empowering both consumers and professional drivers to identify optimal locations and complete arrivals with higher confidence and precision.

Derive custom statistical insights by securely joining your data with Google's comprehensive Places dataset in BigQuery.  Use Places Insights and Data Studio to uncover real-world insights for use cases like site selection, market research, and location performance evaluation.
