Immersive navigation

Google Maps is integrating the world's freshest map data with advanced Gemini models to fundamentally change navigation. This update introduces Ask Maps, a conversational feature that answers complex, personalized questions by analyzing information from over 300 million places, and Immersive Navigation, the biggest driving experience overhaul in a decade, which uses Gemini models to process Street View and aerial photos for spatial understanding, delivering vivid 3D routes and real-time alerts powered by over 5 million traffic updates per second.

Google Earth in 2026

Last year, Google Earth launched new functionality to become an advanced geospatial platform and the source of truth for critical geospatial decisions.
In 2026, we are hitting the accelerator. Our mission is clear: empower engineers, urban planners, sustainability leaders, and other professionals to transform their businesses, their cities, and the planet. To make this happen, we are focusing on three core shifts: enriching our iconic imagery with professional-grade data, turning Earth into a canvas for your geospatial storytelling, and accelerating your workflows with AI. One example of how we’re using AI is through Ask Earth, allowing you to search through satellite and Street View imagery.

Learn more on how you can personalize, collaborate, and move faster all while saving time and working smarter with Google Earth and Google AI.

Street View Insights now Generally Available

Street View Insights is now Generally Available offering external organizations access to Google’s imagery data for analysis and modeling through a scalable, privacy-focused architecture. The data connects directly with Google Cloud's BigQuery for advanced spatial analysis and integrates seamlessly with Vertex AI. The launch introduces a unique opportunity for enterprises to access Street View imagery and asset detection data to address complex and large-scale physical world business challenges.

Learn & Grow

Enhancing last-mile efficiency with new routing and navigation tools

We're excited to share several updates aimed at supercharging trip efficiency and completion, helping you and your drivers master the complexities of the modern journey. These innovations provide more precise data and control to reduce missed delivery windows and improve operational efficiency.

  • Navigation SDK with enhanced destination highlighting: Empower drivers to pinpoint destinations with confidence. New highlighting capabilities within the Navigation SDK make it easier to identify the exact pick-up or drop-off spots, especially in dense areas. Developers can now provide even more precise destination details, leading to smoother on-the-ground operations.

  • Geocoding API - Destinations endpoint: Go beyond simple coordinates. The new Destinations endpoint in the Geocoding API, now in Preview, provides rich, hyperlocal details. This means access to building outlines, specific entrances, and point-of-arrival visualizations, giving drivers the granular context needed to navigate the crucial last meter. Learn more in our latest blog post.

  • Roads Management Insights (RMI): Simplify complex route planning. The no-code RMI roads selection tool allows for visual route selection and optimization, removing the need for manual API-based geometry construction. Utilize real-time network monitoring and urban data analytics to build and refine reliable routes. Explore the interactive demo.
