Google Earth Satellite Embedding dataset

We are thrilled to announce that Google’s Satellite Embedding dataset, powered by @GoogleDeepMind's AlphaEarth Foundations model, has been updated for 2025. This additional year of coverage now unlocks the ability to look back, compare, and detect change across the planet with unprecedented clarity.

Part of Google's Earth AI, the new data represents the state of the planet throughout 2025, distilling petabytes of multi-sensor data into a 64-dimensional embedding for every 10 meter pixel.

Geocoding Destinations endpoint

Destinations are more than just points on a map. They are often a place with context, including things like specific building addresses, pedestrian or vehicle access points, or even relationship data to buildings around it.

Imagine being a delivery driver and when you “arrive” you find you’re not actually in the right spot. To help solve this, we’ve launched, in preview, the Geocoding Destinations endpoint in the Geocoding API, powered by destination details. This launch marks a fundamental shift in the navigation cycle, now enabling deep selection and refinement of granular destinations, which then feeds directly into our routing and navigation engines, ensuring that every part of the journey is precise from first search to final drop-off.

To learn more about how you can incorporate destination details into your solutions, review the Geocoding API documentation and check out our latest blog post. We wish you a smooth ride and cannot wait to see what you build!

February Fireside chat

A huge thank you to our Innovators for joining our Fireside Chat in February! Our speakers, Ryan Baumann and Angela Yu, shared a candid look at the evolving developer landscape, covering everything from the rise of vibe coding to the practical shift towards building specialized agents using Google Maps Platform. The session dove deep into how tools like Code Assist MCP and Maps Grounding are reducing developer friction by providing dynamic context and up-to-date documentation on demand. Whether you’re interested in hearing about Ryan’s “haircut” prototype, learning how to use AI as a judge for evaluations, or exploring how to combine business data with Imagery Insights,

The full recording is now available on YouTube. Head over to watch the session and check out the YouTube description for links to all the resources that Ryan and Angela mention in the recording. Be sure to stay on the lookout for more Fireside Chats coming your way soon and if you haven’t already join our Discord Community!
