Assess which action you will need to take

To understand the type of usage under your billing account:

  1. Go to your billing report.
  2. Group by SKU.
  3. Look in the Product column: if there is no use of a Google Maps Platform product, then no action on any of the billing account's projects is needed. Otherwise, proceed to identify which projects require action by following the remaining steps.
  4. In the right-side panel, under Filters, use the Projects drop-down to add a per-project filter.
  5. Check each project individually to see if a Google Maps Platform product is used.
  6. If a project has:
    1. GCP Only usage: No action is needed, this project should stay in this billing account.
    2. Maps Only usage: Move this project to a new Google Maps Platform billing account. See these instructions.
    3. Maps + GCP usage: Create a new billing account, create new project(s), create new API key(s), and update your app(s) to use the newly created API key(s). See these instructions.
